A strong union contract is right around the corner.
Virginia city and county workers in Fairfax, Richmond, Loudoun, and Prince William are joining together for a better workplace and improved services. Together, we are declaring “Unions for All” so that everyone has a voice on the job. Sign a membership card and pledge to vote YES!
Founded in 2012, SEIU Virginia 512 unites county and city employees in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Richmond, and Home Care workers across Virginia. Our union believes that all working families, no matter who they are, where they live or the color of their skin, deserve dignity, respect, family-sustaining pay, benefits, and a voice on the job. Our members advocate for good union jobs and justice for everyone in our community. We deliver the quality, cost-effective services that residents rely on.
For years, we have stood up for all working people in the Commonwealth to have the right to a union and a union contract. Today, we’ve made significant progress and historic wins that give us the freedom to improve our jobs and our lives.
Today, as we move closer to union elections, we're pushing for a seat at the table to strengthen our pay, benefits, and working conditions in legally binding contracts. In this moment, we have an opportunity to make sure that all employees of the City of Richmond, Loudoun County, Prince William County and Fairfax County get a voice on the job, and that our concerns are taken seriously by our administrations. But, it can only happen if we pledge to vote YES in our union election and show Virginia we are ready to work together for improved wages, benefits, and the respect we deserve.
Why is collective bargaining and a union important?
By uniting together in SEIU Virginia 512 and demanding collective bargaining, we can win the changes we need to care for ourselves, our families and our communities. Collective bargaining strengthens local economies, advances economic and racial justice throughout the community, improves recruitment and retention, enhances services, and is supported by 68% of Virginians. These elections will decide whether or not our union, SEIU Virginia 512, will be officially recognized by the City of Richmond, Loudoun County, Prince William County and Fairfax County. Having our union recognized will give Virginia city and county workers a seat at the table with decision-makers to directly negotiate rates, healthcare benefits, and resources we need to provide Northern Virginia with high-quality services.
